Durant, a quiet small city of approximately 2,000, was incorporated as a chartered city of Cedar County, Iowa, on June 25, 1855. Durant is located just off Interstate 80 on County Highway Y26 and State Highway F58. Only 20 minutes to the Quad Cities and Muscatine, 40 minute drive to Iowa City and a few hours to major metropolitan cities.

Five institutions of higher learning are near Durant: University of Iowa, St. Ambrose University, Muscatine Community College, Scott Community College and Palmer Chiropractic College.

Durant is proud to support many community service organizations and recreational activities for youth. Pride is displayed throughout the city by neat, well- maintained city parks and properties.

This is due to the many efforts of volunteer organizations, including but not limited to; the Jaycee Park Trash Crusaders, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, the High School community service organizations, and the Annual Durant Chamber Clean-Up Day.

Durant has an excellent school district, modern fire and ambulance services, a medical center and pharmacy, retail businesses, a branch of the Scott County Library, and Community Center.

The greater community is proud and supportive of over 100 retail businesses, manufacturers and wholesalers.

Industrial development is expanding because of Durant's excellent location with railroad and interstate access. Durant is an area prime for growth.
