Chamber, so we
can support you!

1. Become a member of the chamber – money well spent.
2. If you are already a member, run for the board. We need new board members, with fresh ideas and new perspectives.
3. Encourage other businesses to join.
4. Volunteer to help with chamber events.
5. Attend the regular meetings.
6. Support other chamber members’ businesses and thank them for being part of the chamber.
7. Network with other chamber members with complimentary businesses and create a co-op marketing group.
8.Take your business needs to your chamber board and ask for them to consider researching or adding services you need. Things like: business skills development workshops at reduced costs.
9. Offer your skills and expertise to other businesses in town through a presentation for your chamber.
10. Link to the chamber’s web site on your own web site.
11. Hold a Business After Hours.

From the Chamber President
And so my year of leadership begins… I’m looking forward to working with the board and the community.

Since taking over Dr. Ruth McAndrews’ practice in 2006, I have come to love this close-knit community. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you, and I consider it a privilege to be able to care for your eyes. I have come to see the loyalty and commitment you have for your community, and I’m glad to be part of it.

It’s so important to support your local businesses. Continue to shop your local businesses first. This will help both the businesses and the community to thrive and grow. Business owners, please consider joining the Durant Chamber of Commerce if you aren’t a member. This gives you the opportunity to give back to your community. Some of the things the Chamber is involved with are the support of the JA program, the July 4th fireworks display, the annual golf outing, and the citywide garage sales. In the works for this fall and early next year is the replacement of the tattered flags/banners and broken brackets that line 5th street on special occasions. The Chamber has a website now and the directories to help promote growth as well.

And last but not least, if you have any thing you feel needs the Chamber’s help, please let us know. Come join us for one of our meetings at the Hill of Beans Bistro. It would be great to see some new faces and hear some fresh ideas.
